Where Art Thou?: Kat Von D's Wonderland

Sadly, I have not been to California in years, and probably won't be able to make it there any time soon. But if I were to go, one of the first places I'd hit up is Kat Von D's Wonderland Gallery located in West Hollywood. I checked out her website, and she has some pretty bitchin' artwork on display.

Here are some of the fiercely talented artists that are currently on exhibition:

Creative Colors: Roberto Capucci

As a fashion/arts blogger, I hate to/have to admit that I had never heard of Italian fashion designer Roberto Capucci until today. I'm thrilled to have discovered his work, even if a bit late.

Born in Rome in1930, Capucci attended school in his hometown at the Accademia delle Belle Arti. Inspired by nature, art, and architecture, he is known for his use of unexpected odd materials, delightfully vibrant colors, and incredibly creative silouhettes,

Dubbed the "Givenchy of Rome" by fashion writer Alison Adburgham, Capucci's work was greatly admired by Christian Dior. He often shied away from publicity and news of his shows was usually kept silent. All of his pieces are one of a kind.

In full bloom: Natalia Grzybowski Spring/Summer 2012

Simultaneously delicate yet unexpectedly strong, Natalia Grzybowski's Spring/Summer 2012  conceptual collection "Hybrid" is breathtakingly divine. This season she "combines elements of nature and technology in order to re-define our current visual interpretation of the female cyber-organism."

Harmoniously balancing simple silhouettes with extreme design elements, the female body becomes part human, part botanic. "Each piece is an artform within itself, complementing without oversexualizing the female form...mimicking the form of a flower."

Wearable Foods

My friend and I had once discussed how we would like to collaborate together on an article. I'm an unemployed fashion/arts blogger, she's a chef who blogs tasty recipes and personal stories related to food. Together we could be a force du jour, really, but so far nothing has panned out yet. (Although, I hope one day we can make it happen.)

I wish we had thought of Korean artist Yeonju Sung's idea for Wearable Foods. The ongoing series portrays a made-up reality that challenges viewers beliefs about clothing and their functionality. She creates unwearable garments made out of perishable food items, resulting in a simultaneous desire to dress oneself and to eat, but ultimately leaves viewers  hungry and figuratively naked.

Hey there, shady lady.

Summer is quickly sneaking up on us, and I can't wait! Of course, like most, I'll be out soaking up as much of the sun as possible. It's gonna be glaring hot in all senses of the word, which means, sunglasses are not only a fashion must have, but an absolute need. I scoped out the web and found some of the coolest shades for summer 2012.

In black and white: photography by Zhang Jingna

Since I started blogging back in 2009, I've been in love with Zhang Jingna's work. Her photos are always crisp, sleek, imaginative, often deceptively simple. She definitely has a style that is distinctly her own. Her latest photos of model Natalia Bonifacci are tastefully sexy and edgy, while highly rock n roll. I'm completely captivated.
